Football is a family tradition. My grandfather, father, uncle, cousins, and brother-in-law all played football, including at Stanford, Notre Dame, San Jose State, and in the NFL. I lived that tradition myself as a four-year varsity letter winner at Columbia.
I know the player experience firsthand: contract negotiations, team dynamics, and the reality of competing for a spot on a roster. That perspective shapes how I represent players.
I hold a law degree from the University of Virginia, where I served on the Law Review and published award-winning scholarship on athlete compensation. I clerked for two federal judges and served as a legal adviser in the federal government. I practiced law at two of the country’s top law firms and now serve as General Counsel of a growing company.
Taking a contract apart, knowing which language protects a player and which exposes him, is not a skill that I am learning on the job. It is a discipline refined over years of high-stakes practice.
Of roughly a thousand NFLPA-certified agents and thousands of NIL agents, few have practiced law at the highest level. Counsel Sports was built to close that gap.
A career as short and consequential as a football player’s demands an advocate who has done the legal work and a network that covers every part of the journey.
